UCD CSI's HeyStaks Technologies Wins European Entrepreneurship Competition

HeyStaks Technologies, a spin out company from NovaUCD, has won the inaugural, Europe-wide, UNICA Entrepreneurship Competition for Students and Young Researchers. The company scooped the €20,000 prize in recognition of its revolutionary social Web search platform that improves Internet searches, and helps Internet users to better organise and share resources found while searching and browsing the Internet.

UCD CSI Relaunches ICSP Module for Second Level Students

On the 17th of October 2009, UCD CSI relaunched our Introduction to Computer Science and Programming (ICSP) module for second level students. 20 students from around the country have commenced on the programme with a full-day workshop in UCD School of Computer Science and Informatics. Through the module, students will be introduced to the core concepts of computer science and will recieve instruction in areas such as hardware, robotics, programmign and basic computer theory. Under the guidance of Dr. Michael O'Neill, Karl Abbey and Erik Hemberg, the programme runs fro 12 weeks between October and December 2009.

New SFI Cluster launched at UCD CSI

The Tanaiste Mary Coughlan, Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment, announced the establishment of FMC2 a new Science Foundation Ireland Strategic Research Cluster (SRC) on 14 October 2009.   The Financial Mathematics and Computation Cluster (FMC2) with funding of €4.7 Million is a research collaboration between Industry, University College Dublin, Dublin City University, and NUI Maynooth. FMC2 will create a globally-leading centre of financial research which will provide a critical underpinning for the future development of, and employment growth in, the international financial services sector in Ireland.
